Full Concert PA

Astralsound Full Concert PA Systems

We supply a range of "packaged" Full-Concert PA Systems (with crew), catering for live music production in small to moderately large venues¹. Essentially these marry the same core system to a range of four main speaker systems (the larger systems also include more monitors). The speaker systems available are:

The 1.6kW PA System	For smaller venues (up to about 250 capacity). Hire cost is from £360 + VAT per day (or without monitors from £280 + VAT per day).
The 3kW PA System	For larger venues (up to about 450 capacity), or smaller-scale outdoor events. Hire cost is from £420 + VAT per day (or without monitors from £340 + VAT per day).
The 2kW W8C/WSX PA System	For larger venues (up to about 800 capacity), or outdoor events. Hire cost is from £650 + VAT per day.
The 4kW W8C/WSX PA System	For larger venues (up to about 1,000 capacity), or outdoor events. Hire cost is from £850 + VAT per day.

The equipment detailed below forms the core of all Full Concert PA Systems, and is included without extra charge with any of them.

Main Console

By default, the Full Concert PA Systems are run from a 24-channel Allen & Heath GL2200 mixer.

Allen & Heath describe this as the "go anywhere, do anything mixer". It is supplied with a Littlite gooseneck lamp, a drum-mounted (45 metre, 28-channel) multicore cable, and an experienced sound engineer to set it up and run it.

The mixer's main outputs, connected to appropriate crossovers/controllers & amplifiers, can drive any stereo loudspeaker system. The auxiliary or group outputs can also drive any four-way monitor system (a five-way monitor system is also possible).

We can supply a different mixer, extra crew, alternative loudspeaker systems or additional monitors and monitor mixes if required (please contact us about this).

Microphones and D.I. Boxes

We can usually supply a suitable combination of Microphones and D.I. boxes (the microphone include clips, K&M stands, and cables) for most types of production (please speak to us about what you will need). By default we include:

Four Shure Beta58A Microphones

These supersede (and in our view improve on) the "standard" SM58. However, SM58s can be substituted on request.

One AKG D112

An industry-standard (and probably the most widely-used) kick-drum microphone.

One AKG C3000

A good general-purpose dual-pattern condenser.

Four Orchid Standard D.I. boxes

The Orchid Standard D.I. combines superb audio quality with 100% reliability.

Two Shure Beta 57A

An improved version of the legendary SM57.

Four AKG C1000s

"The Swiss Army Knife for musicians".

Four AKG C418s

Clip-on condensers for drums.

Processing and Effects

12U of processing facilities are included with all Full Concert PA Systems as standard. By default this includes:

An EMO RK1

A rack light (1U). If you have ever tried running a system in the dark without one, you'll appreciate this!

A Lexicon MPX100

A great basic multi-effects unit (1U).

A Lexicon MPX200

A better basic multi-effects unit (1U).

A dbx 1046

Four channels of classic dbx compression (1U).

Two dbx 166XLs

Four more channels of gated compression (1U each)

A dbx 266XL

Another basic 2-channel compressor/noise gate (1U).

A dbx 1231

A 2 x 31-band graphic equaliser (3U).>

A Tascam CD160 CD Player

CD player (2U): useful for system-checking as well as background music.

All necessary cables & connectors (and send/return & insert looms) are also included. We can also supply more or other effects units and processors if necessary (please ask us about this).

Cables, Hardware, Delivery and Collection

All necessary power, microphone & loudspeaker cables and stands are included. Delivery, set-up, take-down & collection are provided without extra charge anywhere within a 15 mile radius of Stroud.

Peak Sound Pressure Level information is given for each system for the purpose of comparison, and does not imply any recommendation about appropriate levels for your own (or any specific) production. System SPL capabilities are generally adequate for most types of production in areas of approximately:
